Getting started is easy. Choose your lenses, we arrange a courier to pick up your frame, and our optical team builds your custom pair. In around a week, your sunglasses are back on your doorstep, ready to wear.

Each lens is traced from the original frame model using high-precision digital scanners that capture its unique curvature and edge geometry down to fractions of a millimeter. That means you get a lens cut to fit your frame exactly. No guesswork, no gaps, and no rattle.

How it works
HPCSA Compliant
Prescription Lens Service Notice. Wombat Gear uses an independent partner optical laboratory to manufacture and fit prescription lenses. Our lab partner is fully registered and authorised in South Africa where required, and our technicians are qualified and registered where professional registration applies. We follow South African requirements and recognised international optical and quality standards, with quality checks including prescription verification, PD and centration checks, lens power and axis checks, coating inspection, fit and finish inspection, and a final inspection before dispatch. We dispense only from a valid written prescription issued by a qualified eye care professional, and you are responsible for supplying accurate, complete, and current prescription details and measurements, including PD and multifocal heights where applicable. If you provide your own frame, you confirm the frame is structurally sound and you accept the risk of breakage during standard lens removal and fitting, especially for older, brittle, or previously repaired frames. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, you indemnify Wombat Gear, our directors, employees, contractors, and our lab partner against claims, losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising from incorrect or incomplete information supplied by you, unsuitable frame condition, misuse, unauthorised adjustments, wear and tear, or courier delays outside our control. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
